The shop and gallery |
Every map I've ever seen showing special New Mexican fiber tours mentions Tierra Wools. So when we drove near the tiny village of Los Ojos on our way from Colorado to Taos, New Mexico, we knew a detour was in order.
Tierra Wools is a local cooperative; the members raise sheep and llamas and shear their wool; then they spin, weave, and dye it. The shop was wonderful! The gallery was gorgeous! The town was picturesque! Yes, you should go!
Looking down the road |
For the Sit and Stitch group, I brought back a brochure and a set of yarn sample cards for ordering yarn directly from this wonderful craft cooperative. They are happy to receive orders online, by phone, or by mail. You will find the cards and the brochure in our little library.
Yarn so wonderful you can't let it go |
For myself, I brought home some of this luscious space-dyed wool/mohair handspun yarn. It is beautiful to look at, but it is even more lovely to hold in your hands. Ask my husband - I held this yarn, night and day, for the rest of our trip home.
