Greetings from Clair's Chickens!

Because my flock produces so well, the knitters and crocheters (and quilters, too) in our group get lots and lots of eggs. I thought you'd like to meet some of the responsible parties!

Peckatina, the beautiful Barred Rock shown above, lays very large pale brown eggs with speckles.

Here is a shot of our chicken yard, back when we only had five hens. From left to right: Charlotte (who lays green eggs, see below), the Three White Chicken Sisters, and Peckatina. We have since added eight more hens and a rooster, extended the yard, and put an addition on the chicken house.

The exquisite Mr. Kellogg, a Welsummer and the king of our flock, keeps the girls happy and safe. That's one of the Welsummer hens in the background. They lay eggs that are a deep chocolate brown with speckles.

We can usually tell who has given us each egg. That's Charlotte's green egg, along with two eggs from our Rhode Island Reds, Lucy and Lily.
